And I agree with Chappy. We dont need to get beaten soundly at kickball.

Though, as the winner said, it wasn't that big of a deal - we're all really old.

What about the Pathfinder Beginner Box? I have one that I'd loan out to any parent willing to run it for children (My youngest is too young and I don't know if my oldest would care) But, it's something to consider. There's also Hero Kids on Drivethrurpg.com to consider and I am sure they have other kid friendly rpg's.

I'll look for the list of games I wrote up for the raising geek kids.

I know one of them off the top of my head:

I haven't tried the PF beginner box but willing to look at it.

From the posts above, and some conversations with folks at the convention, there seems to be some interest in a kid's event track.

Closer to SIBCON, let's schedule a get together of anyone willing to help run 1 or more events. We'll need to discuss age ranges, rules/games, possible concerns, and whatever else may be on people's minds.

Since I haven't yet checked out any of the games you are talking about, I don't know if the suggestion I am about to make can apply, but here goes:

Depending on who actually shows up to play, it may at times be beneficial to pair one older child with one younger child. The younger child gets to be the sidekick/familiar/etc. I just wanted to put it out there as another way to deal with age/ability discrepancy if needed.

I saw this onsale at Drivethru RPG. It's an RPG designed for ages 4-10. Sessions last around an hour. You can order a softcover printed book & adventures - so it's a supported system. (if you get the adventure bundle first, you get 50% off the rules book).

If folks are serious about possibly running a game track for kids, this might be a good avenue to go (using the pre-written adventures and simple rules). Along with clay-o-rama, and similar games.

Those of you who are serious about helping, please give this a look and post your thoughts.

I truly enjoy the idea of having a kids friendly table or two. I might be willing to try to run a game of something suited for a younger age range during SibCon.

I picked up a copy of the game & adventures ($12 for everything on PDF is a pretty good deal). Reading over it, it looks fast paced, fun, easy to understand and play, and well written.

Hopefully everyone will be coming to the COS Picnic in July. Maybe we can set aside a few minutes to talk about this while everyone is in one place?

I have been thinking about games for kids. Something involving nerf guns with the suction tips, targets and, playdough. Someypthing to keep their interests while keeping them active as well. Still have to write it up. I am slacking. The idea is there at least. Clay-o-Rama gave me the start but it needed a little more action to keep the kids going.
