The History of the Races

Reptilians

Reptilain Homeland: Southwestern Servosa, Keh-Aten

Reptilians come from the swamps far south of the barony of Northgate or the swamps of Drekmor. Concealed, deep in the warmth of the swamps, their society has remained virtually unchanged since its very creation.

Considering the length of time the reptilians have existed they remain surprisingly primitive. Perhaps not so surprising, when one realizes that the queens want it that way. The seven queens rule the reptilians with talons stronger than any steel for they are truly ancient dragons. Reptilians are loyal to the queens even beyond death, for to cross a queen is to earn a fate far worse than death.

The queens have long commanded that the reptilians rule by strength. Every reptilian is first and foremost a warrior. Craftsmen are generally looked down on, with very few exceptions. Work is the province of lesser races, what good is the ability to work leather or make scrolls when the call for war comes.

The reptilians are divided into large warring tribes, fighting to take treasure and slaves but most important for the glory of the queens. Fierceness and strength are looked upon as the greatest qualities a lizardman can display, with battles common and individuals challenges are practically hourly occurrences. Indeed to show weakness in such a society, is to court death or worse dishonor.

Although human moral codes mean little to reptilians, certain acts are scorned by reptilians. Displaying cowardice, abandoning a comrade in battle, or failing a queen will earn great dishonor. Theft and murder however are common occurrences. Every reptilian assumes if they are strong enough they can take what they want and if they are too weak to hold what is theirs it will be taken. This often causes problems in the early involvement between reptilians and the other races.

Reptilians have recently become more common in Northgate as the queens have begun sending out scouts to explore farther from the swamps. Why they have just now become interested in the outside world, after all these years remains to be seen.
